In Planet Laundry's April issue, Kwah Wai Pang, a business
developer from Oklahoma City, Okla., discusses being a laundromat
owner. With the addition of two coin stores, Pang expanded his
business portfolio, which already includes five gas stations with
attached convenience stores and residential real estate. Outfitted
with only Speed Queen machines (104 total machines between the two
stores), Pang's laundromats are completely different from any other
laundry in the city-space for kids to play, a lounge with video
games, big-screen TVs and free coffee daily.
"I was looking for a way to diversify my business portfolio,"
says Pang. "I discovered coin laundries had a lot of the same
characteristics as convenience stores; mainly, customer service is
the key to success."
